About dfine.io

dfine.io has two products. Streaming Classic streams your monitor live to clients in under a second. Review lets you upload a file, comment on the exact frame and share it for approval, and also runs live conferencing and HD or Premium livestreaming. See Welcome to pick the right one.
The latest Chrome and Safari, on both desktop and mobile.
No. Viewers open your access link and watch in the browser. An account is only for people who manage streams.

Streaming Classic

HD up to UHD (4K), with H.264 and VP8 today. AV1 and H.265 are coming soon.
Under one second.
Up to 25 Mbit/s on ingest, with adaptive or constant bitrate. Your plan sets the maximum, and a stream above it is paused automatically. For good quality we recommend at least 3500 kbit/s.
dfine.io is hardware independent. OBS is our recommended software encoder. Many devices also work, such as NDI sources, TeraDek Slice and Bolt, AJA HELO, Blackmagic ATEM and WebPresenter, and the Kiloview E1. See Compatibility.
Open Settings, Ingest for the ingest URL, and open a stream slot for its key. See Where do I find the ingest server URL? and Where do I find the stream key?.
Install OBS, import our profile, then enter your ingest URL and stream key. See Install the OBS profile and OBS settings (RTMPS).
A stream is paused automatically when the ingest bitrate is higher than your plan allows. Lower the bitrate within your plan, then unblock and restart it from the dashboard. See The stream is jittering and Ingest does not work.
Yes. Activate the monitor link in the stream settings, generate a link and play it out in OBS. See Blackmagic SDI monitoring.
As a software provider we are not certified ourselves, because we do not run the data center. We can run your streams on TISAX certified servers in Frankfurt through our partnership with Google, offered as an optional upgrade. You can also run a streaming server on premises.

Review

Almost any video, image or audio file. Everyday formats like MP4, MOV, JPG, PNG and WAV play right in the browser. Professional and design formats, for example R3D, ARI, EXR, DPX, PSD, HEIC and camera RAW, plus PDF and office files, are stored for download instead of browser preview. See Compatibility.
Up to 50 GB per file, and up to 250 files per upload. Larger files are uploaded in parts automatically, so a short connection drop does not restart the whole upload.
The original is your uploaded file at full quality. The optimised version is a lighter copy we create for smooth playback. You can switch between them in the preview.
Storage and the number of files depend on your plan. The free plan includes a small amount for trying things out, and paid plans add much more. See Plans and billing.
Yes. You can set a password on a folder so only people with the password can open it. A forgotten folder password cannot be recovered, but a project owner can remove the protection and set a new one.
