Ingest serverThe address where your encoder sends the stream.
RTMPSThe secure streaming protocol we use for ingest. The S stands for an encrypted connection.
Stream keyA private token that connects your encoder to the right stream slot.
Stream slotOne ingest endpoint inside a project, with its own stream key.
Access codeThe passcode you share so viewers can watch the stream.
PlayoutSending the video out to your viewers.
Monitor linkA private playout link to watch the stream on a reference monitor or decoder.
LatencyThe short delay between sending and seeing the picture. With dfine.io it stays under one second.
BitrateThe data rate of the stream. It affects both quality and stability, and your plan sets a maximum.
Adaptive bitrateThe bitrate adjusts to how stable the viewer’s connection is.
CodecThe method used to compress and decompress video, for example H.264 or VP8.
Color samplingHow much color detail the video keeps, for example 4:2:0, 4:2:2 or 4:4:4.
Luminance rangeThe brightness range of the signal, video range 64 to 940 or full range 0 to 1023.
WebRTCThe technology that delivers the live picture to the viewer in real time.
Confidential accessAn access tied to one email, with a password and an IP lock after the first login.
Geo blockingRestricting who can watch by the country their connection comes from.
OBSOpen Broadcaster Software, a free encoder for live streaming.
NDIA standard that lets video devices talk to each other over a network.
EncoderThe device or software that turns your video into a stream, such as OBS or a Blackmagic device.
