In Review the ingest server lives in a conferencing room. You bring an external hardware or software encoder into a room as a Source, which gives you a Server URL and a stream key to push to.

Open a conferencing room

Open a room on the Streaming page, or create one as described in Live sessions and conferencing.

Add a source

Pick Manage on the room to open the Edit Room dialog, go to the Sources tab and click Add Source. Choose Livestreaming for a WHIP encoder or Livestreaming (RTMPS) for an encoder that only speaks RTMPS. The two tiers are compared on Technical facts.

Copy the Server URL and stream key

The source shows a Server URL and a Stream Key. Copy both into your encoder. What an active source costs you in the room is covered in Live sessions and conferencing.
The Desktop app does not need this step. It joins a room directly from Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or SDI IN. See Desktop app.
