# Where do I turn on the playout link for a reference monitor?

> A stream slot's Playout tab turns on SDI / monitor playout and creates one private playout link per slot for dfine.io Studio or a decoder.

  <Step title="Open the stream slot">
    Go to **My Projects**, open the project and the stream slot.

  <Step title="Open Playout">
    Go to the **Playout** tab and turn on **SDI / monitor playout**. That creates the playout link, one per slot.

  <Step title="Send it">
    Copy the link, or send it with the email field.
  </Step>

The link skips the geo and access code checks, so treat it like a stream key. Turning it off blocks it without affecting your web viewers, **Regenerate** replaces it.
