# Where do I set a room's sources?

> A source brings video from dfine.io Studio or an encoder into a room. Add it in the room's Sources tab, WHIP or RTMPS.

A source brings external video into a room, from dfine.io Studio or a hardware encoder. Each active source counts as one participant and uses a room slot.

    Open **Conferencing** in the sidebar and pick **Manage** on the room.

  <Step title="Open Sources">
    Go to the **Sources** tab and click **Add Source**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick the tier">
    **Livestreaming** is WHIP, for dfine.io Studio. **Livestreaming (RTMPS)** is for an encoder that only speaks RTMPS. Bitrates and latency: [Technical facts](/en/reference/technical-facts).
